Erlin Daniel Marmolejo, Singer, Vocalist of world famous Salsa Band ‘Sonora Carruseles’; his musical career begun 16 years ago. Colombian born in the town of Quibdo - Chocó. He begun singing Colombian folkloric music such as ‘Currulao, Chirimilla, etc…at the age of 12 he used to sing for his local Church; a while after  some promoters from music label Codiscos arrived from the city of Medellin; including Fernando Lopez, General Manager of the known Latin label in order to make some auditions in which Erlin Daniel participated and eventually won, consequently joining the Codiscos brand as an exclusive artist, he remained there for three years when he then joined his first band ‘Orchestra La Celestial’ reason for which he had to travel to Medellin we he lived for 10 years; there he had the opportunity to work with bands such as Grupo Veracruz and La Son Charanga with Diego Gale amongst others.

On a personal level, Erlin Daniel Marmolejo is a family man and proud parent of three Children, born in Colombia Valentina Hoyos Arias (11), also born in Colombia Daniel Felipe Marmolejo Arias (6) and the youngest one born in the Unites States, David Marmolejo.

His time with Carruseles has taken him around the world, visiting countries such as Germany, Italy, France, England, Belgium, etc… And Australia where Carruseles had a very successful tour and to where surprisingly people love Salsa, not only the Latinos who reside there but also the Anglo-Saxon people and various other cultures found there.

Erlin Daniel is also a man of God to whom he thanks for his success, additionally he considers him self a very lucky musician which owes to God, his peers, his fans and the Media such as The Latin Voice.

The Latin Voice has recently caught up with Daniel Marmolejo, vocalist and percussionist of Sonora Carruseles and this is what he had to say...

1. What or who inspired you to become part of perhaps one of the most important Bands in the world?

The satisfaction I get from people enjoying themselves dancing to our music and the motivation it gives them, also the adrenalin when performing on stage.

2. Of the big repertoire of La Sanora Carruseles which is your favourite song?

Well I have a couple like "Que me entierren con rumba" (Bury me partying), but my favourite song has to be Micaela as it's probably one of our best known classics. I also enjoyed producing our last album "Somos los Duros de la Salsa" where I sing "Descarga en Do" & "Mi verdadero Son".

3. Which has been the most memorable moment in your Artistic Career?

One of the most memorable moments with Carruseles is probably when I toured internationally for the first time with the Band back in 2001, For example in Belgium I was in shock to see the huge crowds singing to our songs, it's something memorable to see all these European people actually yelling out the lyrics to songs like Micaela.

4. Who do you think is the most influential person or Group of the Latino World?  

Well, musically I admire a few people including Niche, Guayacan and El Gran Combo de Puerto Rico whose admirable career goes back to about 40 years ago. Personally, I admire my family for all the love and support they have always given me

5. Do you have a message for all the Latinos and Latin lovers in Australia?

Thank you for supporting the Latin talent and our music, without you all Latin music wouldn't be what it is today. Lets always keep together and make distances shorter by music.

Erlin Daniel Marmolejo, Cantante, Vocalista de la Sonora Carruseles; su trayectoria musical comenzó hace 16 años. Colombiano, nacido en Quibdo – Chocó. Inició cantando música folklórica Colombiana como Currulao, Chirimilla, etc… a los 12 años cantaba villancicos para la capilla de Quibdo; posteriormente llegaron de la ciudad de Medellín unos promotores de la Casa Musical Codiscos con Fernando López, gerente general para hacer audiciones las en las cuales participó y ganó, consecuentemente vinculándose a la Casa Musical Codiscos como músico exclusivo, allí estuvo 3 años cuando se unió con Orquesta 'La Celestial" por lo cual tuvo que viajar a Medellín donde vivió por 10 años, allí tuvo la oportunidad de trabajar con grupos tal como El Grupo Veracruz, La Son Charanga con Diego Galé y varias más.

Personalmente Erlin Daniel Marmolejo es un hombre de familia y orgulloso padre de tres hijos, nacida en Colombia Valentina Hoyos Arias (11), también nacido en Colombia Daniel Felipe Marmolejo Arias (6) y el menor nacido en Estados Unidos, David Marmolejo.

 La trayectoria con Carruseles ha llevado a Erlin Daniel alrededor del mundo, visitando países tal como Alemania, Italia, Francia, Inglaterra, Bélgica, etc...Y Australia donde  Sonora Carruseles tuvo una gira bastante exitosa y donde sorprendentemente la gente disfruta bastante la Salsa, no solo los Latinos pero lo anglosajones y variadas culturas que se encuentran allí.

Erlin Daniel es también un hombre de Dios a quien agradece todos sus éxitos, además se considera un músico con mucha suerte la cual se la debe a Dios, sus compañeros, los ‘fans’ y los medios tal como The Latin Voice.

 The Latin Voice recientemente charlo con Daniel Marmolejo, vocalista y percusionista de La Sonora Carruseles y esto es lo que dijo...

1. Que o quien te inspiró a ser parte de quizás una de las bandas más importantes del mundo?

Tal vez la satisfacción que me da ver la gente disfrutar y bailar nuestra música y la motivación que nuestra música les brinda me inspira mucho, también la adrenalina y emoción que siento cuando me subo a la tarima en nuestros shows.

 2. Del repertorio de La Sonora Carruseles cual es tu canción predilecta?

Bueno, tengo bastantes tal como "Que me entierren con rumba" , pero mi tema favorito tiene que ser Micaela ya que es uno de nuestros clásicos más reconocidos. también disfruté mucho trabajando en la producción de nuestro último album "Somos los duros de la Salsa" en el cual canto los temas "Descarga en Do" & "Mi verdadero Son".

 3. Cuál ha sido el momento más memorable de tu carrera artística?

Uno de los momentos más memorables con Carruseles fue cuando hice mi primera gira internacional con la banda en el  2001, Por ejemplo en Bélgica la acogida fue fenomenal, me quede sorprendido de ver la multitud de gente cantando versos de nuestras canciones, el algo memorable ver a gente como el publico Europeo cantar al coro de temas tal como Micaela.

4. Quién crees que sea la persona o grupo más influyente del mundo artístico Latino?

Bueno, musicalmente yo admiro a gente tal como el grupo Niche, Guayacán y El Gran Combo de Puerto Rico quienes tienen una admirable trayectoria musical expandiéndose por mas de 40 años.  En un nivel personal, yo admiro a mi familia por brindarme todo el amor y apoyo para salir adelante.

 5. Tienes algún mensaje paro los Latinos en Australia? 

Muchas gracias por apoyar el talento Latino y nuestra música, sin ustedes el genero Latino no seria lo que es hoy.  Mantengámonos unidos y nunca rompamos los lazos que nos unen a través de la música. Abrazos!
