Dante's Monthly House picks
1. How long have you been
in Australia and when did you start your latin profession?
Well I've been in this great country called Australia
for 22 years and started my Latin profession in
1984 DJing.
2. What inspired you to do
what you do in this country?
In those days I was only a kid and started going
out to nightclubs,
seeing my older friends Djing, from then on the
music took control of me. Seeing people dance and
having a good time...
3.
What has been the proudest moment in your career?
There are so many great moments for example: doing
my first gig for Trasandinos Chilean Day at Botany
pool and doing a perfect set and seeing people screaming
and clapping to the songs that I was playing, but
my proudest moment was when I was Djing for the
Sydney 2000 Olympics for all the Latin athletes.
4. Is this your full time
profession? If not what else do you do?
No it is not...!!! I also produce my own music and
am now getting involved with all the Latin artists
here in the land of Oz , re-mixing their music...I
am also part of the Houzekeeperz Latin House band
5. What's your favourite phrase
or motto?
What would the world be without music and what would
music be without Latin!
6.
Which is your favourite band or artist?
There are so many DJs and Bands...DJ Eric Morillo,
Roger Sanchez, Masters at Work.(MAW) Ozomatli, Oscar
de Leon, Celia Cruz, Ila Familia and my self of
course.
7.
If you had three wishes to be granted, what would they
be?
No more wars, no more sickness and no more pobreza
(poverty)...
8. What are your likes and
dislikes?
More communication between our cultures and less
backstabbing… YOU KNOW WHO U ARE...
9.
What would you like to see more or less of in the
Australian Latin scene?
There are so many things, You have to be Original
in what you do . I’m sick of hearing bands
doing covers ALL the time and not taking the risk
of doing their own material that's why they have
to bring acts from Overseas, and I'd like to see
less of people bitching about 1 another.
10. Do you have a message
for all the Latin lovers out there?
Being a Peruvian-born South American it is important
for me to be able to bring the true roots and rhythms
of Latin Music to the people the way they should
be heard. I like to create a positive party atmosphere
by mixing good tunes. Support your local acts and
especially ur DJs cause its getting hot in here...lets
all be one like they say: LA UNIDAD HACE LA FUERZA...thanks
for all your help and TheLatinVoice- "keep
it real"
....Saludos a todos
mis patas y chocheritas y a mi hijo Ramon, my MUM
and Dad
...Peace..
