Interview with DJ Donbear The Latin Voice caught up with DJ Donbear . DJ Donbear has been Djing for a while now and has been at some huge events DJ DonBear was given the Hot 10 Latinvoice questions! 1. How long have you been in Australia and when did you start your Latin profession? I have been in Australia for 14 years and started major DJ gigs about 1 ½ years ago 2. What inspired you to do what you do in this country? I always had a passion for music; I enjoy a variety of music including RnB and Hip Hop and also love Salsa and Timba. 3.
What has been the proudest moment in your career? It would have to be one of my first gigs which was Latin Flava at Daintree just over a year ago, the crowd was incredible and gave me a lot of inspiration. 4. Is this your full time profession? If not what else do you do? Well, actually I work at a record store and I also work at "Nitrogen" which is a clothing store...so I actually have three jobs! 5. What's your favourite phrase or motto? "Living in fear is half living"...I believe in taking risks...If you don't take risks you'll never know! 6. Which is your favourite band or artist? Well..locally, it would have to be Son Veneno ..Overall..mmm.. I have a lot of favourites, but my favourite is probably "Manuelito y su Trabuco" (Timba). 7. If you had three wishes to be granted, what would they be? Firstly...To be successful in life, and business, I'd like to have a successful leading "Latin" orientated business. Secondly, To be always healthy and third but not last to have a lot of stability and happiness. 8. What are your likes and dislikes? I hate cheesy commercial music!..I love watching people dance and Chinese food!!! 9. What would you like to see more or less of in the Australian Latin scene? I would love to see more good quality international acts. I would also like to see more unity so we can grow and feed from each other and I would love to see less animosity between people in the industry, we are all one and should focus towards the same goals. 10. Do you have a message for all the latin lovers out there? Keep it real! Keep your head up...to love and respect our culture; we all live in a foreign country and should continue building a solid base and prosperous future for our next generation of Australian-Latinos. Support each other as much as possible to live the "Latin-way" in happiness; we all came here for a better future, we are all far from home so make the most of it.
