Los Fabulosos Cadillacs are unraveling their mysterious glare by giving us an exclusive introduction to their upcoming album, “La Luz Del Ritmo.” The legendary Argentine roqueros offer a no-nonsense, sharp-edged fusion or hip-hop, ska, and traditional South American sonidos that radiate with intense originality. Their raw talento surpassed the 80s and 90s, but now they are ready to seal their third decade of success with a worldwide tour and their U.S. album release on March 10th.

Check out what la banda’s sax player Sergio Rotman had to say about their musical reunion and recovering from band member Gerardo “Toto” Rotblat’s sudden death right below.

What inspired the group to rejoin after a 6-year break?

Our reunion was more about just making music together - not necessary producing an album. It just ended up working out that way. We didn’t want our music to represent anything nostalgic, because that is not the essence of the band. We wanted to keep evolving. The truth is that it all came very natural to us.

How do you think “La Luz Del Ritmo” represents that process?

The album exists in its form because of our madurez. Being exposed to the world and growing pride for our music and just being a Fabuloso Cadillac - these are things that gave personality to this album. We have experienced a lot. Losing Toto also played a huge role in our return. Solo tenemos una vida and we have to work for our happiness. That means making music for us.

Thinking back to last year, how did you guys deal with his death?

We paid homage to him on-stage during our tour last year. I think it was about ten shows. We know that he is still with us. He will always be with us.

This new album includes a couple of old tracks like “Malbicho” and “Padre Nuestro.” Why did you guys decide to include those songs a second time around?

There were two main factors. First, we lost Toto a couple of days after we started on this new album. At that point we were being pushed by the label to produce something. We did it for peace of mind because we just didn’t have a lot of time. We needed to feel comfortable with what we were putting out there.

It all seems to have worked out. When is your tour set in place?

Yes, we are very excited. We are touring again and heading to the U.S. for four shows in April. We are going to have about fifty different concerts in total. Por adelante esta todo.
