The Latin Voice has recently caught up with Luis Taquito Ruiz, vocalist and percussionist of Sonora Carruseles and this is what he had to say...

1. What or who inspired you to become part of perhaps one of the most important Bands in the world?

Well, I've been with Carruseles for 3 years now, prior to Carruseles I worked in a few other Latin bands including Los Niches, Formula 8, Nelson y sus Estrellas, Fruko & Latin Brothers and when I was given the opportunity to join Carruseles in Miami I jumped at the chance. I admired Carruseles for their musical style and the passion they always put in their music was something that inspired me.

2. Of the big repertoire of La Sanora Carruseles which is your favourite song?

It has to be Micaela, this song is probably one of the most popular in our repertoire, I think this song is one Sonora Carruseles is instantly identified with. I also love the songs I sing in "Somos los Duros de la Salsa" which are: 'El Alacran', 'Vuelvo a Cali' & 'La Culebra' and a new song which is due to be released in our next album.

3. Which has been the most memorable moment in your Artistic Career?

Well, I've had many memorable moments throughout my career and my time with Carruseles, but one of the most fond memories is probably the overwhelming welcoming we had in our last European tour

4. Who do you think is the most influential person or Group of the Latino World?  

People like Ruben Blades for the positive messages he delivers through his music and Ismael Rivera for his musical flavor and his amazing improvisation skills

5. Do you have a message for all the Latinos and Latin lovers in Australia?

That no matter the culture, status, race, etc...music is the key to unity.

1. Que  o quien te inspiro a ser parte de quizás una de las bandas más importantes del mundo?

Bueno, yo he estado con Carruseles por 3 años, antes de Carruseles trabajé con otras Bandas Latinas incluyendo Los Niches, Formula 8, Nelson y sus Estrellas, Fruko y sus Tesos y Latin Brothers y cuando se me presento la oportunidad de unirme a Carruseles en Miami, la acepté felizmente. Admiraba a Carruseles por su estilo Musical y la pasión que siempre pusieron en su música fue algo que me inspiró.

2. Del repertorio de La Sonora Carruseles cual es tu canción predilecta?

Tiene que ser Micaela, esta canción es probablemente una de las más populares en nuestro repertorio , Creo que este tema es uno por los cuales Sonora Carruseles es instantáneamente identificado por donde quiera se escuche. También me gusta los temas los cuales canto en "Somos los Duros de la Salsa" que son: 'El Alacrán', 'Vuelvo a Cali' y 'La Culebra' .

 3. Cual ha sido el momento más memorable de tu carrera artística?

1. He tenido muchos momentos memorables en mi carrera artística como también en mi tiempo con Carruseles, pero uno de los momentos más memorables es probablemente el recibimiento y acogida tan espectacular que recibimos en nuestra última gira Europea.

4. Quien crees que sea la persona o grupo más influyente del mundo artístico Latino?

Gente como Ruben Blades por sus mensajes positivos e Ismael Rivera por el Sabor e improvisación en su música.

 5. Tienes algún mensaje paro los Latinos en Australia? 

Que no importa la cultura, estado social, raza, etc... La música es la llave para la unidad. Mantengámonos unidos a través de la música.
