Interview with:

Jaime Jesus & Patricia Falciola

This month Thelatinvoice talked to Latinize Salsa Competition winners Jaime and Patricia.

Both Jaime and Patricia are dance teachers for Latin Dance Australia teaching Salsa.

These two are full of potential, heading to the Salsa Congress in Milan, Italy in a few months. Preparation is full stream ahead, and they need your support to get there.

Thelatinvoice asked the two of them the famous 10 hot LatinVoice questions regarding their careers and involvements in the local Latin scene.

1. How did you start as a Dancing couple, how did you meet?

Jaime: We met at BJ's nightclub, became friends, started dancing at other nightclubs and then from there, just decided to become "Dance Partners". We've been dancing together for three months now"

2. How long have you been in Australia and when did you start your dancing profession?

Patricia: I was born in Australia, I started three years ago, doing Samba and about a year ago I got more interested in Salsa, then I met Jaime and then I got really in to it..(laugh)

Jaime: I was born in Uruguay and have been here seventeen years; I started taking dancing seriously about..mmm..just over a year ago

3. What has been the proudest moment in your dancing career?

Patricia: My proudest moment..when I won the Salsa competition with Jaime!

Jaime: (laughs)..It has to be when I won the competition with Patricia ..definitely!

4. Is this your full time profession?, if not what else do you do?

Patricia: Yes it is!..but I also make Samba bikinis and costumes for Brazilian shows.

Jaime: I am actually a bricklayer!

5. What's your favourite phrase or motto?

Patricia: mmmm..don't know..mmmm..Girlfriend!..I suppose (laughs)

Jaime: Soy Celeste! (I'm sky -blue) {referring to the Uruguayan soccer team colors}..(Jaime is a big soccer fan!)

6. Which is your favourite musical artist?

Patricia: I am just so focused in what I'm doing, I'm just trying to be the best that I can be , I don't really idolize anyone..mmm.. Definitely not Britney Spears (laughs)..mmmm..I'd have to say I love Marc Anthony..the way he sings.

Jaime: Son by Four!

7. If you had three wishes to be granted, what would they be?

Patricia: ..One..would be to be able to have the contacts.. just like a base so I can actually work independently and not just have everything given to me ..Second wish..that Jaime sticks by me for ever!..my third wish..eternal happiness I guess!

Jaime: Well..my wish-list at the moment!..Firstly it is not to just go to Italy but one day go to the Puerto Rican Salsa Congress which is the biggest and best one and dance with Patricia and kick butt!..the next one is for Uruguay to win the world cup! (laughs) I wish!!! And lastly to help bring Sydney's Salsa scene as high up as possible!

8. What would you like to see more or less of in the Australian Latin scene?

Patricia: Well..it's really picking up now..so maybe just to see a lot more Dance Schools..Yeah..I'd like to see the Dance Schools combined together and all work as a team, because I think if we combine the best of everything and everyone puts in a hundred per cent and make one big group it will go far..unity!

Jaime: More unity between the Schools and less rivalry between Schools!

9. Do you have a message to all the Latin lovers out there?

Patricia: Just get in to it!..It's a lot of fun!

Jaime: Most importantly enjoy yourself and keep dancing!

10. How do you feel being the only couple representing Australia in the Salsa Congress in Milan?

Jaime: It is a big honor to be the first ones to go from Australia, we will do everyone proud and we are going to come back bigger and better than ever!

Patricia: I totally agree!
