LDA LA Salsa Congress 2004

LDA at the LA Salsa Congress 2004

After 5 mind-blowing days and nights of incredible shows from the worlds best Tropical Gem, Edie & Al, Los Rumberos, Eddie Torres Dance Company, Salsa Brava, and many more; countless workshops for shines, turn patterns, tricks, ladies styling and others; and incredible salsa parties where you could dance till you drop. Our dancers proved to be very popular amongst the internationals, in particular our golden girls Yvonne and Patricia who were considered the most popular Salseras on the dance floor.

Latin Dance Australia was scheduled to perform on Saturday night, the night reserved only for the best of the best. Earlier that day our team warmed up on stage prior to performing later that evening and just from the strength of that performance we were invited to perform at the 2004 UK Salsa Congress. How cool is that!

The stage was set. It was a full house with over 3,000 die hard dance enthusiasts, with not one seat left to spare. By Saturday everyone had heard of or was talking about the ‘Twins from Oz’ or ‘the Magic Twins’ that they’ve now been coined. Our team Jaime, Patricia, Nestor and Yvonne were on fire and ready to rock. Yvonne and Patricia came out and set the scene with their awesome performance that got the crowd pumping. Jaime was then placed in the Magic box and when he re-appeared both he and Nestor came out and the entire audience erupted in a sea of astonishment thinking Jaime was doubled. They then rocked the audience with their awesome Salsa Magic routine that till this day has everyone talking. What a wrap! Below see the comments we received from the best dancers in the world:

Al “liquid silver” Espinoza.(LA on1) – ‘that was the bomb guys, that had had everything, you guys were awesome’.

Edie “the Salsa freak” (LA0n1) – ‘That was unbelievable; it had everything that was truly millennium style’.

Stracy Diaz (NY on2) – ‘amazing show guys that was clean, it had great dancing and very entertaining I loved it, it was awesome’.

Joby “Brava” Martinez (LA on1) – ‘that was amazing; people will talk about that show for a long time it was very original’.

Jesus Apontes (NY on2) – ‘What can I say that was brilliant, loved every bit of it’.

Our team did us proud and we are glad to have them back. They are literally bursting at the seams with all the new material they have brought back from LA. Look out for the new workshops coming soon! See them this weekend at Saturday Night Salsa.

LDA back from the LA Salsa Congress

Below is news from Jaime Jesus on their recent trip overseas to represent Australia:

We have finally returned from Representing Australia at the 5th West Coast
Salsa Congress in Los Angeles, the largest of its kind.

Despite being selected to perform in the biggest and most prestigious night
of the congress along side of some of the most famous Salsa schools in
World. We did excellent; the crowd loved it and most importantly so did all
the organisers of the major Salsa Congress from around the world.

We have brought back a wealth of knowledge and are dying to teach it all to
you. We will be announcing next week when the workshops will be held and
only a limited number of places will be available so book in straight away
to avoid disappointment.

A huge congratulation must be given to Richard and Pascale for there amazing
performance at their 1st Salsa Congress. A congratulation also goes out to
Patricia for her wonderful performance.
