Rafa
This month's interview of the month
is MC Rafa. Rafa is the lead singer and producer
of the Latin Hip Hop group Ila Familia and is one
of Sydney's best party MCs. Check out what Rafa
had to say for TheLatinVoice HOT 10 questions!
1. How long have you been
in Australia and when did you start your latin profession?
Came back to oz in 1991. Have been MCing events
since beginning of 2001 and producing ILA Familia
since 2000. Been hosting ROMPEREMOS for about a
year!
2. What inspired you to do
what you do in this country?
I've always been proud of my culture both as Hispanic
and Australian, and I've made it my duty to represent
4 all my people and make my/our messages very clear.
I love music and making it even more so. I love
being out and about so my work is a real passion
4 me.

What has been the proudest moment in your career?
As ILA Familia every time we walk on stage and people
make noise 4 us, every time we on the radio and
every time our followers show love and respect.
As an MC hosting Bacardi Fiesta and travelling across
Australia.
4. Is this your full time
profession? If not what else do you do?
This is my VERY FULL TIME profession!!
5. What's your favourite phrase
or motto?
MAKING IT HAPPEN WITH LATIN RAPPIN!!
6. Which is your favourite
band or artist?
Don't have 1 in particular but many. Dr DRE,2pac,Orishas,Los
Van Van..too many to mention!
7.
If you had three wishes to be granted, what would they
be?
Free the world of poverty, take my ILA Familia to
the top and Uruguay becoming football world champion
once again!!(yeah rite)
8. What are your likes and
dislikes?
I love my mum and grandma's cooking, making music
and getting positive feedback, love and respect
from our fans. Rocking the microphone and making
people have fun!
I dislike people's jealousy and envy, especially
in the Latin community. I dislike us Latin-Americans
forgetting about the essence of our culture, and
our so called community leaders disregarding the
Latin youth.
9. What would you like
to see more or less of in the Australian Latin scene?
More people with a positive attitude. More people
that want to make things happen. More people supporting
events and all aspects of our community. Less hatred.
10. Do you have a message
for all the latin lovers out there?
I ve been saying this for a while!..Look out for
the ILA Familia cos we making things happen and
we are going to take it to the world! Support, Support..Support!!!
